MUSIC OF THE MONTH FEB '18!
Updated: Mar 29, 2018
How are we all?
I want to start a new segment on this blog entitled: Music of the Month.
As the title says, I want to share with you some of the music that I have been constantly listening to during the course of the month – when I’m at home, when I’m on the train, when I’m at work, whilst I do my daily devotion, whilst I’m worshipping, pretty much ALL THE TIME. I am basically ALWAYS listening to music, so if you see me anywhere, it’s most likely that I have my headphones on.
There is so much power, SO MUCH POWER, in music. What you hear/listen to impacts on the purity of your heart and mind, I don’t think anyone can actually deny it; it just does something to your spirit. You start walking a different way, talking a different way; it affects your mood, your actions – whether negatively or positively (I want to encourage you to listen to edifying music, and be positively impacted).
I feel like because music is so important, God laid it on my heart to share my playlists with you all so that we can keep ourselves listening to edifying music, focused on God and just generally in a positive place. He reminded me of the story about Saul and David. When the Spirit of God departed from Saul, an evil spirit came in His place, and tormented him, but when David played spiritual music on his harp, Saul found relief (1 Samuel 16:23). Music can be the gateway to your breakthroughs, it can be your relief and also aide your connection with God.
Anyways, I’m always on the hunt for more Christian/Worship music to listen to, as I barely listen to secular music anymore (I am not saying that you also must not listen to secular music (this is another blog post all together), I just haven’t found myself wanting to…well…apart from the occasional afrobeat song or my classics lol – but I try to keep it as clean as possible).
Listening to gospel music really keeps me in the attitude of gratitude, helps keep my thoughts pure, focus on God and its generally just beautiful! Some songs will be old classics, some will be some I’ve recently just found, but I’m excited.
Music is a form of worship.
In my Quiet Time, I usually light candles, turn on my fairy lights, and put on some worship music so I can set an atmosphere for God to come and sit with me and talk. Try it out as well, as you listen to these songs below, and let me know what you think..
So, I’ve been rambling, here we go:
This Love (Spontaneous) - Housefires II (Featuring Pat Barrett)
By Myself – Deon Kipping
You Waited – Travis Greene
House of Prayer – Eddie Jones
O Come to the Altar – Elevation Worship
Powerful God – Youthful Praise
I Will Serve – CalledOutMusic
My Prayer (Yahweh) – CalledOutMusic
God Alone (Live) - Joyful Way Inc with Hlengiwe Ntombela (Guys this SONG YEAH?! – it’s a WAR CRY!)
I Am Free – CalledOutMusic (If you follow me on social media you’ll see that I practically listen to this song everyday! – It just makes me so happy!)
Let It Be Known – Casey J
Caribbean Medley – Donnie McClurkin
I really hope these songs bless you guys, and I pray that they minister to your Spirit like they do mine. Gospel Music is so soothing, I don’t think you can listen to a song as will be in a mood, or sad or anything. It uplifts and just changes the atmosphere.
I want to do this segment monthly, but if you want to keep more up to date with what I’m listening to and the music selection I’m currently loving, then search and follow my Spotify playlists
(Worship: MyFaithFiles W1
Praise: MyFaithFiles P1)
Also family, Jacy Mai is doing an amazing and ANOINTED 365 days of worship on her podcast (type in Heart of Worship in the apple podcast app, or on soundcloud (Heart of Worship Online) and be BLESSED! I know i am. We are on day 17 and wooooooow, the presence of God is here with us!)
Love, Peace and JOY!
“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!” - Psalm 150:1-6
